Lena Volkov
Pittsburgh, PA
Lena Volkov is a Russian-American jeweler and fiber artist based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her work combines delicate metalsmithing with textile techniques — wrapping, knotting, and weaving fine silver and gold wire into structures that echo the lacework of her grandmother's needlework from Saint Petersburg. Volkov holds an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University and a BFA from Tyler School of Art. She has exhibited at the Pittsburgh Glass Center, the Metal Museum in Memphis, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. Her practice explores the tension between the precious and the fragile, the industrial and the handmade.
